Connect Cloudflare

Move DNS authority to Cloudflare only after comparing every imported record with a complete backup.

Protect existing servicesA Cloudflare full setup changes nameservers for the entire domain. Any missing website, MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, verification, or service record can cause an outage.

01

Create a complete restore point

Export or record every DNS entry, the current nameservers, proxy status where relevant, and active DNSSEC settings before adding the domain to Cloudflare.Back Up Your DNSSaaSTech guide →

02

Add the domain to Cloudflare

Choose a full DNS setup and allow Cloudflare to scan or import records. A scan is a starting point, not proof that the zone is complete.Cloudflare full setupExternal · opens new tab ↗

03

Compare every record

Line-by-line, compare the Cloudflare zone with the backup. Add anything missing and deliberately choose whether eligible web records should be proxied. Mail records must remain DNS only.

04

Plan DNSSEC safely

If DNSSEC is active at the registrar, follow Cloudflare's documented sequence before changing nameservers. An old DS record paired with new nameservers can make the domain unreachable.

05

Change nameservers at the registrar

Replace the current nameservers with both exact nameservers assigned by Cloudflare. Do not use nameservers copied from another Cloudflare zone.Cloudflare nameserver instructionsExternal · opens new tab ↗Change SaaSTech nameserversExternal · opens new tab ↗

06

Wait for Active and verify

When Cloudflare reports the zone Active, test root, www, SSL, email in both directions, and every critical subdomain. Re-enable DNSSEC only with Cloudflare's new values and continue monitoring.

Cloudflare becomes the authoritative DNS provider after the nameserver change. Its automatic scan can miss records, so the manual comparison is mandatory.
